Volunteer Opportunities
At Gardening for Good. We are currently developing a complete volunteer program for Gardening for Good members. We will post more information on the website when this is complete. However, if you would like to volunteer at one of the gardens listed on the network, please email us at info@ggardeningforgood.com with a request for where you would like to volunteer.
Through Hands On Greenville. Hands On Greenville, a program of United Way of Greenville County, helps individuals, families and corporate and community groups find flexible volunteer opportunities at more than 300 service organizations. Hands On Greenville volunteers are at work every day of the yearbuilding community and meeting critical needs in schools, parks, senior homes, food banks, pet shelters, low-income neighborhoods and more.
Some of the most recently advertised "gardening" programs on Hands On Greenville include:
- The Generous Garden. The Generous Garden Project exist to help fight hunger by growing, harvesting and coordinating fresh fruits and vegetables around the Greenville, South Carolina area. We provide lovingly grown, locally grown fresh produce to local food banks, shelters and ministries. Most of it we grow ourselves, and this is where we need your help. You can get involved at many levels by volunteering and spreading the word about us. You, your family and friends can volunteer even if you have never worked in a garden before. http://generousgarden.org/.
- Synergy Garden at the Center for Community Services. Anyone is welcome to work in the Synergy Garden! Volunteers share the fresh produce and a large amount is donated to the Emergency Relief food bank to help people in need. Our garden is 7,600 sq ft and we have morning and evening time slots for individuals, families, and community groups to join in. No prior gardening experience is necessary; we learn together with great folks from the community! www.centerforcommunityservices.com.
- Project Host Garden. Volunteers are needed to help with the maintenance of the Project Host Soup Kitchen garden. This vegetable garden helps supply the soup kitchen, which provides meals daily. All supplies, tools, and instruction is provided. The garden is 2,000 square feet, trying to keep up with the needs of Project Host's Culinary School and Soup Kitchen. Anyone interested in vegetable gardening will be able to learn as they work from their own Master Gardener volunteers. www.projecthost.org.

Many of the gardens in the Gardening for Good network are nonprofits, or are affiliated with nonprofits. They are always looking for resources; your time, your resources, or your financial support.
In addition, we are working to develop a community tool bank. If you would like to be involved, give us a call.
